Beneficium accipere libertatem est vendere

Charles W. Freeman (Chas to his more intimate acquaintances) bowed out of being appointed Chairman of the U.S. National Intelligence Council then blamed the "Israeli lobby" for opposing his nomination. While U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, King Abdallah merely had to clap his hands and his genie, Ambassador Freeman, would come to do his bidding. If that was not enough "Freeman apparently believed that China should have been more aggressive in its crackdown on the peaceful Tiananmen Square protesters. At the same time, he has been critical of American support for Israeli efforts to stop violent terrorists from blowing up Israeli school buses and firing rockets at Israeli kindergartens. There is only one rational explanation for why an intelligence official would be so irrational as to express more sympathy for brutal Chinese repression of peaceful dissent than for Israeli self-defense against violent terrorism: Freeman has been bought and paid for by lobbies he does not wish to alienate. He has a long history of playing the tunes selected for him by those who have paid him." - Alan Dershowitz
In a major rant published on Foreign Policy website Freeman blamed the Jewish Lobby for torpedoing his appointment or in his words “The tactics of the Israel Lobby plumb the depths of dishonor and indecency… The aim of this Lobby is control of the policy process through the exercise of a veto over the appointment of people who dispute the wisdom of its views… and the exclusion of any and all options for decision by Americans and our government other than those that it favors.” The real reason was his financial ties to real and potential adversaries to the the United States.
Indeed, according to Newsweek, it was these connections - and specifically Freeman’s ties to the Chinese Politburo - that scuppered his appointment. According to Newsweek, the White House withdrew its support for Freeman
because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was angered by his support for Beijing’s
repression of Chinese democracy activists, which she described as “beyond the
pale.” Freeman’s animus towards Israel apparently played no role in the White
House’s decision to show him the door. - CAROLINE GLICK

Canadae jura in omni casu libertati dant favorem

Christopher Hitches sums up the triad of mentalities that comprise Islamic fundamentalism: self-righteousness, self-pity and self-hatred.

In the Muslim world there is hardly a self. There the only human moments are stolen ones which leads to hypocrisy and ultimately self-righteousness.

In Islamic states, where Sharia law rules, it is impossible to say in public that because of Quranic fanaticism disease and illiteracy are rampant, agriculture and industry is primitive, at best, and nothing seems to work. It can only be said that because of a conspiracy among Crusaders and Zionists that Muslim people suffer.

Even within the borders of Canada and the United States there are many instances of "honour killings," female genital mutilation, the imposition of veiling on women and beatings of Muslim wives, daughters and sisters. The latent violence of these failed states have been exported to the west while the hysterical impoverished people there applaud the barbaric, self-destructive actions of the children they have raised.

Now the United Nations General Assembly wants to impose a ban on defaming religion in general and Islam in particular. The truth is irrelevant, if an aggrieved party is offended by criticism of Islam or Muhammad. For example to say that Islam is not a religion as such but a geo-political movement much like Nazism or Communism which should be considered fair comment would be punishable as blasphemy.
